Wild Coast Discovery
Currently unavailable due to flood damage.
This fully guided health and wellbeing adventure focuses on reconnecting with natural surroundings while discovering the wildest coastline in Auckland.
We begin with a scenic drive through the north west to the ocean side of the Waitakere ranges. See the vast wetlands and kick off your shoes - walk 10 minutes up the shallow estuary stream to the lower viewpoint of the monstrous black sand dunes at Bethells Lake "Lake Wainamu" and climb them if you want to! Snacks and warm up stretches on arrival at the main beach before we adventure into the west coast wilderness. Follow your experienced and safety conscious guide as he navigates you through the estuary to find the cathedral sea caves that tunnel into the natural amphitheatre covered in native forest. Climb the track to stand on the cliff top rocks once part of the mainland for a rest break with a view. Walk the elevated forest track with views of the whole coast back to discover black quicksand in the estuary.
Approximately 3 hours return.
Next stop is the tallest lookout in Auckland for the best views of the whole city from 350m above sea level including all three harbours. Many other exciting surprises await groups who embark on this journey.
WARNING: Bethells Beach, although beautiful and peaceful, can be an extremely dangerous place to explore and is not suggested without the company of an experienced guide.
