LOUIS & CHIARA.
We met in Perth in 2023 at the Department of Transport while waiting for our numbers to be called. We worked out that we were both new in the area and made plans to go to the beach the next day. We stayed all afternoon and watched the sunset.
We share a passion for exploration and discovery and love to host adventures for our friends. Exploring the Tasman District has proven to be the most interesting and worthwhile, so we decided to relocate Barefoot Tours together from Auckland to Nelson in early 2026.
We always find ourselves coming up with new ideas to make exploration fun and interesting. We’re into all sorts of activities like river rafting, scuba diving, trail running, mountain biking, kitesurfing, yoga, photography and breath-work, and we’re always looking for new things to try!

Being a true explorer at heart and growing up with two adventurous younger brothers and an awesome Jack Russell (Diesel), I’ve found a passion for seeking out the best scenic spots by going that little bit further than most. I’ve also discovered the many wellbeing benefits of exploring nature NZ style — barefoot — and I want to share it all with you!
From the towering views, incredible geology and wild natural elements on the west coast to the interesting sights, history and activities in the heart of the city. Let me guide you through this magical place of the Southern Hemisphere and share with you the wild fun and beauty I have come to discover here. I promise there will be no time wasted!

Born and raised in Rome, Chiara has always loved sharing the places she calls home.
She started her journey in tourism by guiding visitors around Rome and its surroundings, before moving abroad and living in Portugal, Spain, Australia and, more recently, New Zealand.
Along the way, she ran her own wine bar near Rome, worked in hospitality and tourism, and became a qualified yoga teacher — experiences that have shaped her natural ability to connect with people and create a welcoming atmosphere. She speaks Italian, English and Spanish fluently.
Naturally curious, warm and outgoing, Chiara loves meeting new people, discovering hidden places and sharing experiences. She has a real passion for nature, beautiful landscapes and the adventures that come with exploring a new place.
New Zealand has opened a whole new chapter for her and she’s excited to share a little piece of it with you.
